Vivek Pandit, has been working in the state of Maharashtra among the tribal and other rural poor since 1979. He has been instrumental in exposing the age-old practice of bonded labour in the area. He has worked for the relief and rehabilitation of over a thousand bonded labourers. He has also organised the rural poor to fight for issues like minimum wages, land alienation and against atrocities perpetrated on dalits and tribals. He was a co-founders of NCAS. He played an active role in initiaitng the work of NCAS.

Martin Macwan, From the Dalit community, he nearly escaped death in 1986 when colleagues were murdered during a land rights campaign. He founded the Navsarjan Trust in 1989 to promote the rights of Dalits, addressing issues of land rights, minimum wages, and women’s rights. He served as the organisation's director until 2004, and he has also served as a convener of the National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights. His work has been recognised internationally, with the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award in 2000. | ![]() |
Vidyullata Pandit, have worked tirelessly for over three decades to empower the poor of Mahasrashtra. In addition to her work as an activist, she has been the administrative force behind Vidhayak Sansad and Shramjeevi Sanghatana. She was the director of the Vidhayak Sansad from its foundation until 2008 and has been president of Shramjeevi Sanghatana since 2002. Anti-Slavery International of the United Kingdom awarded the Anti-Slavery Award of 1999 to her.
