NCAS hosts the final workshop on ‘People Centered Advocacy in South Asia’ in Pune, India

Twenty delegates from Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan and India advocating for social justice, human rights and peace in South Asia met at a workshop organized by the National Centre for Advocacy Studies (NCAS), Pune from 5th to 8th July 2011.

‘Aaipuali’- Children of the mother and orphaned Adivasi

Aaipuali, in Assamese means ‘children of the mother.’ Aai is the name of a river streaming through the foothills of the Indo-Bhutan border region in Chirang district. The river Aai, has been sacred to the Santhal Adivasis in Assam who are now displaced from their home after a gruesome conflict with the Bodos. 

Commons, Resources, Rights and Livelihood: A Report of a National Consultation

Common property resources, such as forest, water, land and minerals, are being acquired by the state in the name of ‘development’ and are being handed over to capital for profit making. In particular, agricultural land being acquired by the state for infrastructure projects and industry has increased conflict between state authority and host communities.
