Library and Documentation
 

NCAS library offers specialized reference service on topics such as social action, advocacy, human rights, livelihood rights, gender rights etc. The library has a collection of books, reports, periodicals, documentaries, films on these themes. Documentation is the other major activity undertaken in the library. Documentation is done in the following areas:

  • Focused documentation on Human Rights and Social movement

  • Process Documentation on campaigns like Right to Education, Right to Water, Special Economic Zone, and Advocacy Case Studies

  • Distilled Documentation (i.e newspaper clippings) on Social Action and Advocacy, Governance and Policies ,Rights of Tribals and Dalits, Gender Rights, Human Rights, Livelihood

  • Strategic Documentation of Addresses of M.P / M.L.A. Ministries, Bills, Acts etc.

  • Audio/Video Documentation on various social issues e.g. SEZ, Mining, forest rights etc.

  • Other Documentation of brochures, journals, annual reports, research paper and posters etc.

Services offered:

  • Reference and Referral Service: Library also receives a number of reference queries and provides quick reference service and referral service via telephone, emails and also through personal communication.

  • Reprographic Services: People may use reprographic facilities against payment. The photocopies will be provided by hand or post.

  • Document Delivery Service: You can use this service (against a fee) to order articles and essays from magazines or books that are available in NCAS library. This service is provided on ‘No Profit - No Loss’ Basis. You can place your order by post, online or personally. We require precise bibliographic details in order to process your request.

  • Bibliographic Service: Research scholars, students, universities and national level institutions may benefit this facility. Selected list of reading materials or bibliographies are prepared by the library on request.

  • Guidance: The library provides guidance in conservation of library materials to different institutions on request.

  • Current awareness service: A list of additions and Current information from the latest periodicals/articles received by Library and Documentation Unit is circulated for the attention of students, researchers and staff. Photocopies of the articles are sent to the respondents. The members from other institutions can also get the information by sending a request.

  • Film Screening: NCAS library has selective collection of documentary films. Students, activists, researchers may use this facility on request.
