NCAS believes that the role of media is immense: sensitising
and organising people about concerns and issues of public
interest and putting pressure on the policy makers, besides
being the most important tool for opinion formation in the
society.
NCAS
considers Media and Social Action organizations as the
conscience keepers of civil society.
The relation of media with social actions groups is
complimentary. Social action groups depend on media for
highlighting the issues on which they are working. Similarly,
media, being a social institution, looks at them as good sources
of information of social importance to cater to the need and
interest of its readers, viewers, and listeners.
Media
Advocacy Unit of NCAS facilitates interface between media
professionals and social action activists. It also proposes to
compile instructional aids to understand the theory and practice
of Media Advocacy. Its Delhi based counterpart assists the Pune
unit.
