Research

Precise and thorough research rests at the heart of all successful advocacy campaigns. Using the skills and resources available at NCAS, the research team strives to advance the study and understanding of human rights in India. Working closely with marginalized groups, especially those in rural areas, NCAS researchers work to unearth information concerning the status of marginalized peoples in India. Confronting research topics that have been overlooked and under-analyzed, the NCAS research team is a leader in the study of human rights in India and throughout the Global South.

Recent Publications:

NCAS views research as paramount to all advocacy work. By regularly researching contentious issues in India, NCAS provides the needed publications and materials to educate future activists on issues related to human rights. These publications are circulated throughout marginalized communities so as to empower them with the necessary knowledge to advocate for the fulfillment of their rights. In order to reach all sectors of society, NCAS’ publications appear in many different forms, including policy briefs, report cards, books, and pamphlets; they also appear in many different languages, including English, Hindi, and Marathi. Even more, NCAS team members are routinely published in newspaper and magazine articles, showcasing their work and sharing their findings.

Among the many research projects underway at NCAS includes the Globalisation, Governance, and Grassroots (GGG) project – an action research study initiated by NCAS to develop a concrete and nuanced understanding of globalisation and its linkages to governance and grassroots. Additionally, the Adivasi Resouce Centre works to disseminate knowledge resources and create a space for dialogue between legislators and civil society. Through these programs, the findings acquired by NCAS’ research team go far beyond printed materials; NCAS brings its research to life by using it to facilitate advocacy on both the state and national levels. Using the research uncovered and compiled by NCAS researchers, advocates attain the necessary knowledge to advocate for social change throughout India.
